Set up Nobi Search

Show products and useful pages together in your storefront, with manual filters and a Filter with AI command field.

Before you start

Create a Nobi account, connect your store and wait for your product catalog to sync. Existing customers can use their current account.

Open Website UX → Install for your merchant ID and installation status. You need theme-editing access and the Nobi Search app installed on your store. If the app or Search results block is unavailable, contact your Nobi team for store-specific access before continuing. This page does not install the Shopify app.

Add a search bar

  1. In Shopify, open Online Store → Themes. Duplicate your theme and customize the unpublished copy.
  2. Choose a section that accepts app blocks, then Add block → Apps → Search bar from Nobi Search. Enter your Nobi merchant ID. Header placement requires a theme header that supports app blocks; the block cannot be dragged into every theme's header.
  3. Keep Modal results for the existing modal experience, or choose Search results page. Page results use Shopify's localized search URL by default; a custom results path requires a developer-installed Nobi results page. The Search results app block supports Shopify Search templates only.

These settings apply to this bar. Existing installations keep their current behavior. The new Search bar block does not need the Search page routing app embed.

Add the search page for page results

  1. In Shopify, open Online Store → Themes. Duplicate your current theme and customize the unpublished copy.
  2. Choose the Search template. Under Add section → Apps, add Search results from Nobi Search.
  3. Enter the merchant ID from your Nobi dashboard. Use the same account as your existing Nobi installation.
  4. Only for an already-installed Nobi header bar without per-bar page settings, open App embeds, enable Search page routing, and enter the same merchant ID. This optional, invisible Nobi script uses Shopify’s standard App embeds feature to send existing AI header searches to Shopify’s localized search page. It does not add a bar.
  5. Set colors, font, product spacing, column counts and image shape in the block settings. Unselected options preserve your existing Nobi appearance.
  6. Hide the theme's previous search-results section. Preview new searches, Filter with AI commands, selected filters, loading, Show More Products and product links on desktop and mobile. Filter with AI adjusts the grid without opening a chat.
  7. Publish the theme only after your team approves the preview. To return the new bar to modal search, select Modal results. To remove the page experience, restore the previous results section, remove the Nobi results block and disable Search page routing if you enabled it.
